The key word when sharpening the Tormek way is repeatability. The tools are guided in jigs – you remove only a minute fraction of the steel at each sharpening, which makes it fast. An extra benefit is that your tools last longer.

You can shape the tool exactly to your needs. Even such complicated shapes as fingernail turning gouges, spoon carving gouges and oval skew chisels with a radiused edge are easily sharpened. Once the shape is created, you can resharpen the edge in less than a minute. The water cooled slow speed rindstone is in harmony with the physical laws governing the steel tool – the edge does not overheat and lose its hardness. You finish the sharpening process on the leather honing wheel, which lets you polish the edge to a razor sharpness. No grinding dust is produced to pollute the air. The steel particles are deposited into the water trough. The Tormek method is safe. At the low speed, you can fully control the sharpening. Since no sparks are produced, there is no risk to your eyes and you can safely use the machine in areas of high fire risk.

Since 1973 Tormek has introduced many new techniques and set the standard in water cooled sharpening. We are dedicated to sharpening and we are continuously working on new developments to satisfy all your sharpening needs.

Buying a Tormek is a safe investment in quality and performance. You are assured that all future developments will fit your machine.

Depending on which model you choose, a seven or three year warranty applies to all customers including industrial users. This is possible due to the improved coating of the housing, stainless steel main shaft and a powerful, industrial AC motor, which is designed for continuous operation.

The Tormek TNT Sharpening System for Woodturning Tools

The Tormek way differs from conventional dry grinding methods. Since you remove only a minimal amount of steel – you just touch up the edge – the sharpening process is fast. This is why it is called the Touch and Turn or TNT Sharpening System. You prolong the life of your valuable tools and the wear on the stone is negligible. Thanks to the patented Turning Tool Setter TTS-100 you can exactly replicate the edge geometry on your gouges and skews every time irrespective of the stone diameter.

The new T-7 model improves the accuracy and safety in edge tool sharpening thanks to two new innovations, a Square Edge Jig and a Truing and Dressing Tool with screw feed. These developments also make the sharpening more user friendly.

Conventional jigs on the market require that you align the tool in the jig with mounting screws which is time consuming and you lose the exact repeatability at each sharpening. The new Tormek Square Edge jig solves this problem and the chisel will be ground square, i.e. at 90 degrees, each time without any adjustments. This is achieved because the jig automatically aligns the chisel to its flat, machined face.

Another benefit is that the SE-76 can also clamp short and tapered tools firmly, e.g. Japanese chisels. The jig copes with blades up to 76 mm or 3" width.

The new Square Edge Jig SE-76 has safety stops, which prevent the tool from slipping off the stone, which can hurt your fingers.

The other development is a Truing and Dressing Tool TT-50 with screw feed. This enables the user to keep the stone in perfect condition, which is essential for a perfectly sharpened edge.
